Cultivating Creativity: My Journey with Growing Crazy for Pelargoniums

Growing Crazy for Pelargoniums illustrations

As an artist, I’ve always believed that the magic lies in the details – the delicate curve of a petal, the rich contrast of a leaf, or the way light plays across textures. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to dive deep into a world filled with all those things (and so much more), through a collaboration with a truly inspiring company: Growing Crazy for Pelargoniums.

From the very beginning, it was clear that the team at Growing Crazy weren’t just plant enthusiasts - they’re true pelargonium evangelists, bursting with knowledge and an infectious passion for this often under-appreciated plant family.

Working with them has been more than a creative project; it’s been a journey into a vibrant, living world of colour, structure, and history.

Our collaboration has centred around illustrating a range of unique and beautiful pelargonium varieties. Each one has its own personality – from the intricate, textural magic of ‘Crocodile’ leaves and the romantic sweep of ‘Skies of Italy’, to the bold statement of ‘Black Prince’ and the delicate charm of ‘Gemma’. Capturing these in digital form has been a joy and a challenge, but more than anything, it’s been an education.

These illustrations aren’t just staying on my drawing tablet either – they’re blooming into real-world applications, watch out for future announcements.

It’s exciting to see these pieces of art grow beyond the screen, helping to share the beauty and diversity of pelargoniums with a wider audience.

There’s something special about collaborating with people who are truly passionate about what they do. The team at Growing Crazy are innovators – they’re not just selling plants, they’re cultivating an experience, and constantly working on fresh and exciting projects that breathe new life into the horticultural world, including an amazing Pelargonium Masterclass at Whichford Pottery in September.

As an artist, I’m incredibly grateful to be part of that journey – using my creativity to help tell the story of these incredible plants, and to support a company whose values align so beautifully with my own. Nature has always been my muse, but this project has deepened that connection in ways I didn’t expect.

If you’re a fellow plant lover, a curious creative, or just someone who appreciates the beauty in the small things – keep an eye on Growing Crazy. There’s a lot of green magic still to come, and I’m honoured to be sketching a small part of it.
